Precott-Crawford House (1927) 1165 East 21st Ave

This outstanding Mission style residence was built by Robert Prescott, a realtor. He was also President of Lane County Investment Company, the group of developers who originally purchased and incorporated the land and neighborhood now known as the South University Neighborhood (originally Gross’s Addition 1907). It rises two stories tall as a distinct feature in the landscape. Sided with stucco, it is beautifully detailed with an arcade across the front facade, decorative tiles and elaborate wrought iron work.

This is one of several houses built by Prescott as he worked to develop the neighborhood. It was Prescott who envisioned tree lined street and planted many of the birched still growing along University Street.
