Student Food Pantry

Student Food Pantry

Did you know that there is a student food pantry in our neighborhood? Sponsored by the Episcopal Campus Ministry, it is located on 19th Avenue between Onyx and Emerald Streets.

As college costs increase, and more non-traditional students opt to pursue education beyond high school, an increasing number of University students face food insecurity. Last week, 168 students visited the Pantry.  While the food distribution program on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons is staffed by student interns from the Associated Students of UO, the Ministry relies on community volunteers to handle food pickup from Food for Lane County and pantry shelf stocking.

Volunteers are needed for 1 to 2 hour shifts on Wednesday mornings from 9:00-12:00; and on Thursday afternoons from 1:30-3:30. While the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 40 pounds is preferred, there are also sorting and stocking tasks available that do not require heavy lifting.
